Skinner...
I am becoming convinced that Skinner is by far the most existencial and cynical of modern philosophers, and in a certain (conceptual) way is in greater opposition to my theistic beliefs than anything written by Nietzsche, Rand, or even Leo Strauss. The problem with people who claim they know when the second coming of Jesus will happen is that the part of the bible that talks about that specific idea explicitly states that no one knows when it will happen, and people who claim to are either fools or liars. If you take the Douglass Adams apositive approach to interpreting that, you must conclude that claiming the world will end on a certain...

9 Things The Rich Don't Want You To Know About... →
For three decades we have conducted a massive economic experiment, testing a theory known as supply-side economics. The theory goes like this: Lower tax rates will encourage more investment, which in turn will mean more jobs and greater prosperity—so much so that tax revenues will go up, despite lower rates. The late Milton Friedman, the libertarian economist who wanted to shut down public parks...

Apparently the new ‘in’ thing for fascists is to use the freedom of information act to obtain emails sent by their critics about them. Apparently, academic freedom seems to be dissolving. I don’t understand how the freedom of information act can be used to invade the private transactions of professors, but it has happened several times over the last year or so, and has been...
