A poster from a Mark Rothko exhibition hangs on the wall above the sofa in Soviet-era colors; otherwise, the furnishings consist of a rack of DVDs, bookshelves, mountains of “Star Wars” Legos and his laundry, which he keeps in his kitchen cabinets. If you take the Douglass Adams apositive approach to interpreting that, you must conclude that claiming the world will end on a certain day will actually make it a complete impossibility on that particular day. One thing to note, is that this guy picked a Saturday (the traditional sabbath) celebrated by many faiths including the especially nutty 7th-Day Adventists church. 7th-Day Adventists have an extensive history of predicting the Second Coming and getting it pathetically wrong, and in fact their church doctrine was formed around an attempt to justify why they had gotten it so wrong. Many SDAs have a habit of convincing themselves that they are Jesus. David Koresh is a fine example of one. They have a culture of unqualified prophesy, and tend to be obsessed with the Holy Spirit. There is actually a way to categorize their belief system in that regard, but such an explanation would be long and really really boring. Suffice to say, they are not really in keeping with typical protestant churches, and are regarded as borderline christians by most other churches which are otherwise fairly open-minded about doctrine. They are not quite as far off of the beaten path as Mormons (another group that has repeatedly and unsuccessfully predicted the world, as well as made doctrinal changes to explain the failure of its prophesy) but they certainly stay pretty far away from the doctrines of mainstream christianity. This May 21st guy sounds like some type of independent Baptist from what I have read, but most Baptists I have met were not quite spectacularly weird as this guy, and don’t try to predict the Second Coming. If he hasn’t looked into joining one of the other quasi-christian doom cults out there, he really should, he may meet some like minded people, and they can eat canned fish on a mountaintop all day. Or, better yet, he can attempt to rewrite the bible in order to fit his world view like the SDAs did in the late 19th century, and then he will never have to justify any of it. Anyway, just let it be know that the average christian is equally (if not more so) offended by this guy as anyone with delicate agnostic/atheistic sensibilities.

Clients From Hell: Me: “Good morning ma’am, I am calling because our records shows a debt...

Clients From Hell: Me: “Good morning ma’am, I am calling because our records shows a debt...:
clientsfromhell:

)

Interactive Video Portraits is an interactive audiovisual installation realized in SPECS, UPF (Barcelona-Spain) under the Inov-Art program, MC & DGArts (Lisbon-Portugal).
Made with Pure Data, openFrameworks [OSCVideoServer] and Processing.

The IVP installation includes a touchscreen through which the users can choose six different interactive video portraits that are constantly displayed for selection indicated by 14 iconic faces in a “sleeping mode”.
A widescreen, tilted to portrait mode, immediately displays the user’s selection, thus “bringing the characters to life”. The user can interact with the sequence of the video portraits and thus with the characters by means of his/her position in space. This requires a video camera (set on the ceiling, above the user) that is tracking the user’s position in relation to the widescreen display. The user’s position in space is translated into 9 different, equal-sized, sections. Each section is labeled with a different video loop and each loop contains a different action or expression played by the character.
